Jerusalem – The USA Maccabiah team defeated Chile 90-5 Thursday to move into the semifinals at the Maccabiah Games in Israel.

The USA will take on a very tough Great Britain side in the semis in Sunday, while Australia plays Israel in the other semi.

This was Chile’s first Maccabiah games (the “Jewish Olympics”) and they were clearly overmatched.

USA coach Craig Levine praised Chile for their fight.

For the Americans, the forward pack was once again key, with No. 8 Joji Kurosaki and
flanker Josh Slater both having excellent games. The Backs got a chance to run with the ball. Center Max Levine was good defensively and exploited the gaps. The scoring star was flyhalf Jonathan Schaeffer, who accounted for 48 of the USA’s 90 points.
