Lazio Region – Heat waves, 5,000 family physicians in the field
Lazio Region has activated As early as last June 1, the plan against heat waves to cope with the high temperatures expected from today and for the next few days and protect the population most at risk, particularly seniors over the age of 64.
At the forefront are the 5,000 family physicians working in Rome and Lazio. They are entrusted with the task of carrying out active surveillance on the susceptible population identified on the basis of the four different risk levels defined by the regional epidemiological observatory, and include in the program those patients who need it most regardless of age.
The Program Includes Home Visits Related to the level of Risk: If the Weather Surveillance System indicates an alert level Averal Within 72 Hours, The Doctor Will Have To Schedule Home Visits, If the Level Is Just Above For Those Most Susceptible and At Risk the Home Visit Shound Be Made Within 48 Hours and If the Red Alert Level Persist Access Should Be Repeated.
Each Patient Will Also Have a Personal File. More Than 40,000 People affected. Of these, 30,000 have respiratory or cardiovascular diseases.
Specific Alert Systems Useful for Modulating Interventions Are Planned in Six Cities in Lazio: Rome, Latina, Frosinone, Viterbo, Rieti and Civitavecchia.
